Crystalised fruits, almonds and pecan nuts all combine to provide a style that Castarede has characterised in most of its vintages. Distillation of these armagnacs is at around 60 degrees which accounts for the drier fruit flavours and use of the Baco and Folle Blanche grapes.
Lively crystallised Lemon orange peel nose plus nougat, vanilla and oak char. Smells a bit rustic but has good depth. Good weight on the palate, quite silky to attack, with firm, fiery spirit, and chewiness from the wood tannin. Big earthy flavours to close- almost mushroomy.
Tasting Notes: Topazes and sienna robe with orange touches. It offers a nose with complex flavours, which marries animal notes like leather, floral flavours like eucalyptus and fruity flavours like dry fig and blond tobacco. After warming it up, we can smell fur and praline...
Aged in oak barrels. This vintage bottled in 2016 has been aging for 29 years in oak barrels.
The appellation Napoléon is a blend of Armagnac of at least 5 years old. Our Napoléon is a blend of Armagnacs which are around 15 years old. Its robe is coppery. Its nose gives ripe prune aromas and dry fruits. Its mouth is very smooth with some rancio notes.
A well balanced blend in which the youngest spirit has been aged for a minimum of 2-3 years in our own oak casks. This Armagnac comes from our estate situated in the heart of the Bas Armagnac. The grape varieties are Colombard, Ugni Blanc and Folle Blanche.
